Ian Thorpe Free Style Slow Motion posted by Jay

Olympic Swimming

Notice the length/reach Ian Thorpe gets in each swim stroke. Free style swimming is about getting the most out of each stroke and working the technique throughout. The speed in the water from the stroke happens when you pull under the water, much like acceleration occurs in sprinting when you aggressively push on the ground. If you want to be fast in the water and on dry land you need to strength train and speed train. Pulling and pushing takes strength, you must develop this in the weight room and build speed through proper mechanics. Olympics here we come 2012!
